About the organisation
Caribbean Reef Buddy is a non-profit organization, with a team consisting of marine biologists and diving professionals who are passionate and dedicated to the conservation and understanding of our unique marine life. Throughout our work, we aim to enhance conservation and scientific knowledge, whilst inspiring people, encouraging environmental awareness and individual development. Caribbean Reef Buddy is based in Carriacou, Grenada.
About the role
Learn to scuba dive in the beautiful Caribbean Sea and participate in marine conservation projects, such as Coral Reef Restoration, Coral Nursery & Propagation, Apex Predator Monitoring & Lionfish Containment, Macroinvertebrate Study & Photography, and Coral Reef Monitoring.
Project weeks run on rotation from May to September and volunteers can participate in as many weeks as they like, gaining valuable scientific field experience in their area of interest. This program is designed for anyone with a passion for marine life, for those who would like to become a scuba diver or who are already certified, for students or early career conservationists wanting to gain field experience and for students who wanting to gain credit for college or university.
Requirements
To join the Caribbean Reef Buddy volunteer program you should
- be at least 18 years old
- have completed a RSTC Medical Statement and get advice from your physician if you have any concerns
- have an interest in marine biology/ecology, and a willingness to learn about marine life and study methods
- (Family friendly – children 12 – 17 years old)
Salary and benefits
Cost includes: accommodation, meals (breakfast and dinner), PADI or SSI Advanced Open Water certification, diving, all diving equipment rental and training, course materials and 24 hour support.
Start date
We ask volunteers to stay a minimum of 2 weeks, between the end of May and September.
